Hibr.me has trained over 500 people in all parts of Lebanon over the past year (mid-2009 through mid-2010). Workshop topics include:

1.  Basic Journalistic Writing Skills

Through presentations and interactive activities, participants learn basic journalistic writing skills, such as the importance of the inverted pyramid and the 5 W’s + 1 H (What, When, Where, Who, Why and How).

2. Web 2.0 and Social Media Tools

Participants learn social media skills including email (Gmail), blogging, Flickr, YouTube and Twitter. New media, social media, and Web 2.0 tools enable young people to use powerful online tools to transmit and disseminate their stories and perspectives, and to engage other people on key issues.

3. Information and Media Literacy (IML) and Critical Thinking

Information and media literacy helps young people to become critical thinkers and critical observers of their surroundings. Media literacy enables people to analyze, evaluate, and create messages. Media literacy also means understanding how to use the Internet and social media in a proficient way.

4. Electoral Reform and Local Governance Issues

This workshop aims to raise electoral political awareness and to enlighten citizens, civil society organizations, students, and politicians on a variety of issues related to electoral reform, with an emphasis of the importance of the standardized official ballot. These workshops were initially part of the I Love My Vote project (ILMV) organized by Hibr to coincide with the 2010 municipal elections.
